The 32nd Annual New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run will continue the tradition of well organized, scenic tours, with stops at interesting destinations. As usual, participants will enjoy pre-tours on Wednesday through Friday, August 8-10, with the grand run on Saturday August 11th.
The pre-tours allow drivers to test their cars on shorter runs, before the grand run on Saturday. These shorter tours are also a great way to enjoy the camaraderie of friends, both new and old. The grand run is a reliability test for cars and drivers alike. Completing the 120 mile journey from New London to New Brighton is sure to generate a feeling of accomplishment. All along the route, groups of spectators cheer and encourage the drivers as they pilot century old vehicles toward the goal of earning a coveted ACR medallion.
Wednesday, August 8th-
The day starts and ends in New London, MN. We'll enjoy a meandering drive up to St. Martin, MN, where a tour of the Rotochopper manufacturing facility is sure to entertain. The sixty mile round trip will be a great kick off for the ACR cars. Back in New London, the evening meal will be served on the lakefront at Neer Park. The highly anticipated shore lunch, walleye dinner will satisfy even the most discerning palate. www.rotochopper.com
Thursday, August 9th-
A pleasant, 45 mile round trip drive to Willmar, MN, will be rewarded with a visit to the Schwanke Car, Truck and Tractor Museum. This 54 year collection includes over 400 exhibits. Returning to New London, MN, the evening dinner at Peace Lutheran Church allows drivers and tow drivers a chance to meet and greet. www.schwanketractor.com
Friday, August 10th-
The annual Driver's Brunch allows ACR participants to discuss the "nuts and bolts" of the Grand Run. Following the brunch, the 36 mile, Green and Nest Lake tour features the annual root beer float stop in Spicer, MN. At 4:00 PM, we'll gather at Glen Oaks Care Center to the delight of the residents, before embarking on the short parade through town to the American Legion for the annual Chicken and Rib Buffet.
Saturday, August 11th-
The Grand Run! The starting gun sounds at 7:00 am, and the venerable, century old cars begin their 120 mile journey to New Brighton, MN. The 32nd Annual Antique Car Run will be a grand event with sixty or more early brass era cars and their drivers enjoying Minnesota hospitality at is best. Crowds gather all along the route to cheer and support the participants as they travel to the New Brighton Stockyard Days festival. At five stops along the route, small communities roll out the red carpet. It is truly a magnificent tour that is regarded by many as the premier brass era antique car event in the nation.
