About the Run

The Nuts & Bolts of the Antique Car Run:

  • 120+ mile endurance run driven on mostly country roads, passing fields, lakes, ponds, and small cities
  • Driven on the same route annually, the second Saturday of August
  • Eligibility:  all vehicles from 1908 and earlier, and any 1 & 2 cylinders through 1915, includes bikes, motorcycles, steam & electric cars
  • Starts from the small community of New London, west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis & St. Paul
  • Rest stops in 5 communities where volunteers roll out the red carpets for cars and drivers
    • Grove City, Trinity Lutheran Church, arriving approximately 8:30 am
    • Litchfield, Central Park, arriving approximately 9:30 am
    • Kingston, Main Street, arriving approximately 10:30 am
    • Buffalo, High School, arriving approximately noon, staying until 1:00 pm
    • Crystal, Community Center, arriving approximately 2:30 pm
  • Finishes in New Brighton, a suburban community north of St. Paul, Long Lake Regional Park, arriving 3:00 - 7:00 pm, part of the Stockyard Days celebration
  • Average annual attendance, 60-75 cars from around the country and Canada participate
  • Almost 90% of those starting in New London cross the finish line in New Brighton
  • Over 300 volunteers help put the event on, including 50-60 who drive the trailers, trucks and motor homes to the finish line for drivers.  Early registrants are guaranteed tow driver volunteers.
  • 2-3 service vehicles are available on the route to assist drivers.
  • Ham operators monitor locations and progress of all participants.

The New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run is planned and put on by a 12 member Board of Directors made up of antique car owners, and representatives of New London, New Brighton and other cities along the 120 mile route.
In addition, over 300 volunteers assist.
It is financially supported through drivers’ fees, sales,
and contributions from local clubs and businesses.
The mission of the non-profit, non-affiliated organization
is to foster an appreciation of the beauty and endurance of vintage automobiles.
